Renowned jeweler Mish Tworkowski begins a new chapter in his storied career with a colorful and creatively designed Palm Beach flagship boutique and design studio in a treasured historically significant location.

“It’s a dream come true,” says Mish,

who with his partner Joseph Singer have made Palm Beach their main residence. “We have always loved Palm Beach with its tropical beauty, dreamy sunsets, and the warm sense of community here, and now it’s home.”

The stylish new Mish boutique conveys the designer’s colorful and cheerful creative style and his love of gardens. “It is a magical and inspiring space that reflects the spirit of Palm Beach,” says Mish. After a three-year search for the right location, the designer found it in the classic Mediterranean-style building that was designed in 1924 by legendary architect Addison Mizner, whose work defined much of South Florida’s architectural legacy. Originally constructed as a home for the city’s first department store, Bonwit Teller, the bright and airy space features expansive windows with sweeping views of the historic Phipps Plaza architecture and green space.

Mish transformed the delightful pink stucco building into a welcoming salon with an imaginative and unexpected mix of colors and patterns, exceptionally curated furnishings, and tropical plants throughout. The couple enlisted longtime friend and interior designer Katie Ridder to collaborate on the 2,000-square-foot space. “Over the 20 plus years of our friendship Mish and I have shared our passions for color and form – in our gardens, our houses, and of course in jewelry,” says Ridder. “I am not shy about color and the abundant south Florida light brings a special vibrancy to the space. The interiors reflect Mish: brilliant creativity and mirthful imagination.”

The building’s celebrated Mediterranean-style design was preserved and enhanced by Joseph, an accomplished architect who oversaw the project along with the notable preservation architects at Smith Kellogg Architecture. Walking into the inviting space, it’s a place of discovery and delight: The Reception Gallery features a curated selection of Mish’s nature-inspired, artistically colorful jewelry designs in framed showcases. The jewels, naturally, are the star: Big juicy tourmalines, chunky rock crystals, and rich turquoise are just of the signature stones in artistic gold pieces with exceptional attention to detail. The adjacent Trellis Room, which is encircled in custom lattice work painted in Mish’s signature saturated lavender, is an intimate space where clients can meet privately with the designer on bespoke commissions.

Mish’s personal Design Studio is a bright oasis where the designer is surrounded by the natural elements that inspire his creative spirit including shells, flowers, and a specially commissioned Nancy Lorenz tryptic painting. During construction, Mish and Joseph also discovered a concealed antique walk-in bank vault, which they incorporated into this personal space. A communal Design Studio is anchored with an antique table painted in a vibrant chartreuse green and the ceiling’s coffers are appointed with handmade white porcelain flowers. Among the whimsical artifacts is a tall vintage metal pagoda, a Mish icon, that was purchased at a Sotheby’s auction from socialite Carroll Petrie’s estate and a series of oversized tropical flowers prints by Lloyd Sexton that once belonged to Brooke Astor.

As consummate entertainers, Mish and Joseph will be hosting cocktail parties and intimate dinners on the building’s charming covered loggia overlooking Phipps Plaza. Longtime supporters of the Palm Beach Preservation Foundation, the couple is excited to be a driving force behind the revitalization of the Phipps Plaza design neighborhood.

Mish’s new salon is already a must-see location for jewelry-fans and design lovers alike.
